Call for a New Group Leader in Virology at the CIRI
The CIRI, Centre International de Recherche en Infectiologie (https://ciri.ens-
lyon.fr), is a public research institute in Lyon, one of the most dynamic capital cities in
France and a gateway to the Alps. The CIRI brings together more than 380
collaborators and 26 teams in the Divisions of Virology, Bacteriology and Immunology.
The Virology Division is composed of 13 research groups that study a broad spectrum
of viral pathogens, encompassing emerging and highly pathogenic viruses as well as
acute/chronic ones (Ebola, Nipah, Arenaviruses, Crimean-Congo Fever, Zika, Dengue,
Hepatitis viruses, HIV, Influenza virus, EBV, HTLV etc). Different approaches are used
that encompass fundamental cellular biology, the development/use of appropriate
animal models and organoids, the study of the physiopathology and clinical dimensions
of infection to translational approaches in drug development and vaccine design.
We are seeking for an outstanding group leader in Virology focused on the study of BSL4-class viruses.
The new team leader is expected to develop their independent
line of research, while implementing complementary synergies with other groups at the
CIRI.
The selected candidate will benefit from office and laboratory space, as well as access
to on-site state-of-the-art core facilities (BSL4 core facility, imaging, flow cytometry, etc

Particular attention will be paid to candidates eligible for start-up programs such as
ERC Starting/Consolidator Grant, ATIP-Avenir, or equivalent. Support will be provided

candidate(s) will be allocated additional resources to facilitate integration
